Trip to the Firehouse

Living quarters...every fireman/woman gets his/her own bedroom

in full gear

The kids got a tad distracted when the firehouse opened its large, garage door and they weren't paying attention to our host fireman speak. It eventually closed and we continued learning about the neat gear and equiptment on the firetruck.
Our host fireman was awesome. He is also a homeschooling dad and was excited to bring us on for a day of fun and learning.

Inside the garage

The kitchen and living room. You can't see the living room, but it's a pretty sweet set-up...lots of recliners and a large screened tv!

We really enjoyed the day. It's not everyday you get to visit a real firehouse, meet the heros inside and get an upclose look at a firetruck. We were able to see firetrucks pull in and out of the firehouse, got a tour of the firehouse's living quarters, workout room, kitchen, etc. and we learned a thing or two about "stop, drop and roll!". =) The kids each got their own firehat although some children were scared to meet the fully dressed fireman (mask and all), most enjoyed giving him a high-five and saying "hello". Our homeschool group is making a card this week to send to them, thanking them for such a wonderful day.

Isn't that the best outing!?! We had such a great time when we went to visit our firehouse. Looks like you all got a great tour.
