"My son, if your heart is wise,
then my heart will be glad;
my inmost being will rejoice
when your lips speak what is right.
when your lips speak what is right.
Do no let your heart envy sinners,
but always be zealous for the fear of the Lord.
There is surely a future hope for you,
and your hope will not be cut off.
Listen, my son, and be wise,
and keep your heart on the right path.
Do not join those who drink to much wine
or gorge themselves on meat,
for drunkards and gluttons become poor,
and drowsiness clothes them in rags.
Listen to your father, who gave yo ulife,
and do not despise yoru mother when she is old.
Buy the truth and do not sell it;
get wisdom, discipline and understanding.
The father of a righteous man has great joy;
he who has a wise son delights in him.
May your father and mother be glad;
may she who gave you birth rejoice!"
Proverbs 23:15-25
Awhile back, I shared that Rob and I were challenged to find a Bible verse for our family and then for each of our children. Well, I was reading in Proverbs (my favorite book) a few weeks ago and I ran this verse by Rob to see if it was a good choice for our Lincoln. It was perfect. I have to laugh because the verse repetitively says "listen" and that's something we're really working on with Lincoln right now.
Anyone who hasn't had a two-year-old, strong-willed boy, you are not allowed to cast judgement on me today okay?! (By the way, I am reading Dr. James Dobson's The Strong-Willed Child.)
I had a "close call" with our son today and it scared me. He ran out into a parking lot. I was wearing Norah in her carrier and had to sprint quickly to catch him. We were at a park and it was gated in (always good for curious, little ones). Well, we were in the non-gated section and he got upset about something (still unsure what it was exactly) and started running. He's FAST. I ran as fast as I could and held onto Norah with all my might. I got him. My friend "A" ran to help as well seeing that we were near a busy road. Thank goodness he was okay, but he did get disciplined right there and also had to sit on a bench for awhile. Now, this is the part that I'm not happy to share. He's run away from me more than just this once. We've tried a "leash". You know the kind. They come in animal forms (we have a puppy) like a stuffed animal. Yeah, he won't wear it. The problem is that he's such a STRONG boy (he out weighs most three to four-year-olds) that sometimes I just can't get a hold of him. Anyway, not my proudest moment as a mother, but an honest one. We've played a game "stop and freeze" where I have him practice stopping and freezing when I tell him to. Most of the time, it works. Just not today!
If you remember the days of what it was like when your little one liked to run away from you OR you have a little one that currently runs away from you, and you have some good suggestions, I'm open my friends! I don't want to not take my son out to fun places, but safety comes first.
Anyways, we're still looking for verses for Avonlea and Norah, although I have a few in mind.

Other to-dos this weekend:
1. Finish putting together my new (this is super exciting, I know!) coupon binder. I'll take pictures when I'm finished and share. I think I've found a great solution.
2. Finish the last part of my new menu planning.
3. Finish cleaning out and organizing the pantry.
4. Grocery shopping. We do this on weekends for the time being, but will have it back to Thursdays when we don't have an extra little one around. I think I've mentioned our fourth, little addition that's with us a few days a week (he's 3 weeks older than Norah, so yes, I pretty much have twins).
5. Get Dad's birthday present and Mom and Dad's anniversary present. My parents have been married now for 31 years!!
Thanks for listening to a worried mother's post today and I'm hoping and praying that my blogging friends will have some helpful answers to my speedy, little man.

GREAT verse. I love that and it hit home for me. I do love Proverbs a lot. I have a strong-willed little boy too so I totally understand. And I can relate to your excited about your coupon binder. I'm trying to put together my recipe binder. Have a great weekend!
Kelli... gosh it seems to me each of my kids is very strong-willed. I would never judge you!!! It is so hard for people to understand what a mom goes through unless she is caring for your children. Yes I mean your own. Every kid is different and boys especially. Hang in there and remember your prayers for your little one covers when we as moms can't protect them..... I am realizing that we are going to have more of these moments as our kids get older...we have to trust our Lord. I don't get to comment on your blog often ,because sometimes I am just so amazed I don't know what to say. You are a wonderful mom and wife!!!!
ps... I use no coupons ,because I can never figure out a good way to organize them so I don't forget to use them. Would love to know what you figure out!!!!
