This week, along with Avonlea's regular subjects (math, phonics, reading, writing, science, etc.), we've been learning about the wild west and cowboys/cowgirls. We checked out some great books from the library and one of the books talks about how cowboys and cowgirls eat while they're out in desert or camping under the stars. So, we just had to make a cowboy dinner last night. Rob came home and I usually have dinner waiting on the table for all of us to sit down. Well, when he walked in, I told him that we were going to have a cowboy dinner and I needed a hand getting our bonfire started. He smiled and being the wonderful husband he is, started it right up and so we cooked up our dinner which consisted of baked beans, bisquits and "flapjacks" (three items our book mentions). We had luck with the baked beans and those came to a sizzle right away, but our flapjacks took some time. =) We were patient and by the third one, we had it down pat. Needless to say, for time's sake, I finished cooking the rest of the dinner on the stove. It was a rootin' tootin' time...yee-haw!!!!!
