The Early Bird (or baby in this case)

Around 1:30 AM on Sunday, July 3rd, Kelli's water broke. This was a new experience for us as all of our other births have been c-sections (no water breaking, rushing to get the kids in the car, running red lights at 2 AM etc). To be honest, I was kind of hoping to pulled over so we could get the police escort to the hospital you always see in the movies! Lincoln would have loved that for sure. Granda & Grandpa Kmet met us at the hospital and took the kids back to there house for the night. A few hours later, at 4:41 AM, Isaac Cale Bates was born. All the doctors and nurses said he was a big baby for being early... turns out he was 7 lbs. 14 ounces (small for a Bates baby but a pleasant surprise). Kelli and Isaac are both doing well and should be coming home on Wednesday. Avonlea, Lincoln and Norah are all enjoying their new baby brother, although Norah especially is ready for Mommy to come home. Daddy just doesn't cuddle as well as Mommy does! Here are a few pics to hold you over until Kelli comes home and has a chance to sit down and chat.
