Think Twice About a Multivitamin

I've always thought that taking a multivitamin wasn't necessary when one is eating a proper diet of veggies, fruits, whole grains, nuts and healthy fats. Well, this video supports that. I was particuarly alarmed when CNN claimed that those eating too much folic acid (it's in a lot of processed foods...cereals, breakfast bars, etc.) actually has links to cancer! The CNN studies showed that pregnant women did need more folic acid to help prevent brain defects in their unborn babies. You can watch the CNN video HERE.

Rule of thumb...eat foods that have the least amount of ingridients and are raw or nautral. If you have a well-balanced diet, you won't need vitamin supplements.

I so appreciate you sharing your wealth of knowledge and what you are researching and learning when it comes to health and nutrition. When my sixth child (eighth child to my husband and I) was born he was diagnosed with CHD (Congenital Heart Disease) we later found it he has pulmonary stenosis of the vein and valve. I have always been interested in nutrition but this was my big push to really research what I was feeding my kids and what I would be feeding him. That's when I switched us to a more organic diet. I felt that if the valve and vein were all ready narrowed then I wanted to do what I could to keep from clogging his arteries with fatty and unhealthy foods. My now 18 year old daughter started developing at 8 years old. I took her to her Pediatrician and asked how this was possible? He told me that it was not uncommon for kids to start puberty early with all the hormones they have been adding to animals to make them bigger, or produce more eggs faster, etc. I was horrified! So please keep on posting and educating!
