Puppies @ 6 Weeks

One of the sweet, blond girls who goes by "Daisy".
Playing with a pool diving ring.

My favorite boy, the biggest of the litter. I'm trying to convince Rob that we should keep him, but it's not looking too good. I've nicknamed him "Sport".

This little girl's name is Rosebud and she's the puppy that will be staying with us. She's one of the darker girls and may I say that she's full of spunk! She used to be one of the more docile puppies, but she's really starting to show her personality and is quite the frisky and curious girl. We just love her!

The puppies are so much fun now. They turned 6 weeks old this past Friday and we only have until June 12th with these little guys/gals. It's going to be hard to see them go, but I must admit that I have actually prayed for good families for them to go to and God has really answered our prayers. One puppy is going to some very good church friends, one is going to a newly married couple about 30 minutes away and one is going to a couple who live just down the street. They already have a male Golden "Duke" and want a girl to possibly breed in the future. We still have the two males that need homes. I know the Lord will provide the right families for them though.

We have our 8-week checkup, shots, deworming and health certificates scheduled for June 12th, so we'll be taking a trip to see our vet that day (along with my two kiddos...that'll be a trip!) and later on that evening, the puppies will be going to their homes. This week, I finished up the contracts that go along with each of the puppies along with the information that each family will need and we're just waiting on the CKC application forms (Continental Kennel Club...basically saying that each dog has papers and is a full-breed Golden Retriever).
I can't believe that our puppy journey is almost over. It's been a lot more work than the last litter when she only had three pups, I wasn't pregnant, I wasn't home all day and I wasn't caring for two children. I will say though that the past two weeks have been great. The puppies have crate-trained themselves with the help of a baby gate we keep on the porch. They don't go to the potty when inside this gate. They're actually on somewhat of a routine! They get placed into the gate around 9:00 p.m., sleep there, wake up around 7:30 a.m. and I let them out in the backyard to nurse with mom, then eat their Puppy Chow, drink their water and go to the bathroom (which we just rake up). They're basically out in the backyard all day until night time. We do play with them TONS when we're outside, so they're held a lot and are very used to children.
I'll have to do one more post before they go, so stay tuned...
