Homemade Playdough

If you like playdough like we do, then you'll LOVE this recipe! I got it out of a preschool lesson plan book and it's super easy. The great things about it are:

1. It's CHEAP
2. You can make as big or small of a batch as you want
3. You can choose your color(s)
4. It's okay if one of the kids eats it (totally edible, although I don't suggest this and it doesn't taste very good...yes, I tried it for my son's sake)
5. It doesn't stain

The only downside to it is that it does dry out a little quicker than store bought playdough so make sure that when the kids are done using it, it goes back into your store container/Ziplock bag.

Here's the recipe...

2 cups flour
1 cup salt
4 tsp. cream of tartar
2 cups water
2 Tbsp. oil
food coloring (we used purple)

Mix the ingridients in a saucepan. Heat at medium temperature. Stir CONSTANTLY (or it WILL burn!).

When the mixture forms a ball, remove from heat and...

knead it on your countertop. Let it cool.

Store it in an airtight container.

Enjoy!
