Why the Change?
From Supermom to Clinging to the Vine
So, you're probably wondering "Why the change, Kel?" Well, I guess you could say that there were a few reasons. For starters, I've never been satisfied with the title. I'm definately not a Supermom! I just thought the title was cute, so I went with it. (smile) I also had found a cute Supermom icon to go with it. Anyway, I really feel as though this blog represents who I am and who we are as a family, thus I wanted one that reflected our passions and love for Jesus. Everything I do is a reflection of Him and the title that I had before was not a reflection of Him. I can do nothing without Christ. That's a given.
As I was looking to find someone who could put this new 'look' together, I had found a girl who had done a fantastic job on some blogs that I frequent, but her waiting list kept getting longer and longer. I had stumbled upon Jill's blog(s) and was hooked! I can honestly say that I have been BLESSED by her and her family, and the funny part is that we've only 'known' each other for a few, short weeks. She's an incredible mother to 9 children, both adopted and biological. She's a fellow homeschooler and when I say that she loves the Lord, she really loves the Lord and gives Him the glory for all she does. So, I took the plunge, asked her if she'd be willing to take on my blog appearance, gave a donation towards adoption (what better than that, huh?) and within two weeks, this wonderful creation was completed. Jill, if you're reading this, thanks again for every bit of it! At times, I would tell Jill that 'she rocked', but she would correct me and politely reply back with 'No, HE rocks'. Yes, He does Jill. He rocks! (smile)
As I was searching the Bible for a passage/verse to base it off of, I stumbled upon John 15 and was hooked. Although I've never successfully grown grapes, it didn't matter. The analogy of
the vine and the branches was enough for me.
the vine and the branches was enough for me.
The Vine and the Branches ~John 15:1-17
1"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
5"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 8This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
9"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. 11I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14You are my friends if you do what I command. 15I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 17This is my command: Love each other."
Maybe I'll try growing grapes this fall. Maybe not. I don't know. What I do know is that I've been so blessed by Jill and her hard work. I've been blessed to have fun-loving, blogger friends like you all, and I've been blessed by the Lord and am excited to continue sharing what He does as He works in our lives as a family.
