Typical Thursday for us. I can't find my camera and there's some neat pictures I want to take around here.
Seeds...
I ordered some seeds over a week ago and I'm waiting for them to come in. I ordered some okra, pole beans, sunflowers, spring wheat, peppers, Elderberry, oats, asparagus, celery, corn, tomatoes, zucchini and some algae (mentioned before) for strong root growth. Problem is, I had a bunch of seeds from Home Depot that I found and got impatient, so I planted those a few days ago and now I don't have enough room to plant all the seeds I ordered. Oops! I have tons of pots though so they might just have to do for now. Dad does a lot of planting with extra seeds in pots as well.
I do have some lettuce, tomatoes and beans starting to sprout. I wanted to take pictures of those, but again, camera is MIA.
Norah...
Norah is really scooting all over the place! She's starting to use her back legs to help her get around. Pre-crawling I guess you could say. Lincoln is doing well on the potty. He goes potty about 50% of the time during the day. He's not controlled enough to be in underwear out and about yet. Slow and steady. =)
Spanish Curriculum...
A friend of mine chose to leave her teaching job last month and sold a bunch of her teaching supplies. I was stoked to hear that she wanted to sell her Hooked on Spanish program!! I've been trying to find a low-cost curriculum and this was truly an answer to prayer. She even threw in a bunch of Spanish books as well as some CD roms to play on the computer. Avonlea loves learning Spanish and it will come in handy for her someday. There are many Spanish-speaking people in Florida. My goal in the next few years is to be fluent. I have a feeling that teaching my own daughter will assist in that goal. Experts say that you learn 98% of what you teach to others. We shall see. I still have to thumb through it and see how I want to implement it.
New Chicks...
Saturday, we go to pick up some new chicks. Our chicken 'hotel' is almost complete. Rob is going to finish up the door and finish putting up our gate around it, so Riley (our dog) doesn't get in it.
The chicks will stay in a laundry basket with a heat lamp for awhile until they start getting in their 'big girl' feathers. We'll be getting more Rhode Island Reds. What I'd really like to try are some Delewares. They're white with black markings. Really pretty. They are great layers and you can use them for meat if you should choose to. I thought some variety would be nice, but I'd have to order them online. Our chicken lady is having our local new channel come by tomorrow to do a piece on her new chicks. So the chicks that we get will have been famous! =) She's getting in a few different breeds and I'm not 100% what she's getting. Although we like the Rhode Islands, maybe we'll get crazy and try something new.
Warm Weather...
It's been so nice to have weather in the 70s lately. We're back in shorts and flip flops. We got a small paddling pool at Target last week and the kids have been wanting to fill it up and try it out. This weekend may be a great time for that. We had a very large pool last year and the year before. Just a cheap put-it-together-yourself pool that you can actually swim in, but it broke last summer. We did go look around during the fall for some clearance pools (they're usually 1/2 off), but didn't have any luck. Plus, Now that Lincoln is big enough to scale a fence if he wanted to, I'm not 100% sure if we're going to get another one this year. Neither of the kids have had formal swimming lessons and I'm a little nervous. We'll see though. We may give in after all and just build a sturdy fence around it like we did last year.
Let's see. Anything else? Not really. Going to start some laundry and do some dishes. Happy Thursday!

70's, oh how I would love 70's! Ooh, sunflower seeds. I would love to plant sunflowers on the side of my house once Rondell removes the bushes that are there. I'm going to do tomatoes this year and maybe some kind of chilis...do you do those in a garden? I'm so new to this.
