Today is THE day we are saying goodbye to Lincoln's paci. I don't know why I haven't tried sooner, but I just put the little tike down for his nap and after about 10 minutes of crying for it, he's finally settled down and is napping without his paci for the first time! =) After much debate, I've decided to go "cold turkey". The boy will be turning two in two weeks and I figured I'd like to get this transition out of the way before this baby arrives in 3 and 1/2 weeks. I know with Avonlea, we had her go through three major transitions within 2 months and she did swimmingly...new toddler bed, moved into a new house and a new baby brother. I'm hoping that this transition goes the same. The only way this can backfire is if Lincoln starts wanting a pacifier when he sees that his new baby brother or sister has one in a few weeks. Hopefully, with consistency, we'll be able to bite the bullet and that won't happen. He'll realize that pacis are for babies. We've been reading this book Pacifiers Are Not Forever and I think it's been helping.
So wish us luck! I'm hoping for a smooth bedtime tonight. I'm off to search for all his pacifiers and dispose of them quickly before I get tempted to hang on to them "just incase". =)

We went cold turkey too with Caleb last summer. Jamison never had one so we didn't know what to expect but he did pretty well. Good luck!
I am so happy that Noah went "cold turkey" on his own! Good luck with it. I'm just dreading saying goodbye to the bottle...
