So, I guess I should still update even though there are no visual representations of what we're up to around here! I'm definately the visual learner and not having pictures urkes me, but I'm still missing my camera piece so what's a girl to do I ask ya?
The kiddos and I waited an hour and a half at the doctor's yesterday for a visit and prescription that was much needed. Both are sick (Avonlea is worse though) and on breathing treatments. They have definately perked up today which is great for them and me, seeing that our kids are VERY cranky when they're sick (VERY cranky). But, we're on the upward climb to wellness, praise the Lord.
We're anxiously awaiting the birth of our Brittish nephew who could come any day now. Be sure to check out "The Dryden Family" blog for updates. We can't wait to see this precious, little one and hear what he'll be named.
Christmas decorations are all up, baking has begun (a lot of baking...Rob's been a happy camper!) and shopping has started. I'm reading this great book a friend from church gave me. It's called The Purpose of Christmas by Rick Warren. It's such a great reminder how to stay focused on Jesus throughout the Christmas season. It's very interesting and I would definately reccommend it. It really emphasizes having a birthday party for Jesus. Christmas is supposed to be a celebration. A time when we're to be thankful to God that He took on flesh and died for our eternal life. We get soooo caught up in our own family traditions (not that I'm bashing them all, don't get me wrong), but we should always take time to step back and remember why this time of year IS celebrated. It's really even had me thinking of the whole Santa get-up. Is it really that important to stress to our children? A little magic and fantasy never hurt anyone, but I think it's all in how much we stress it to our kids.
Anyways, one thing my mom always did for us kids growing up was sew us each our own stocking. I've done this now for Rob, myself and Avonlea, but I'm hoping to finish up Lincoln's by Christmas Eve. We shall see.
One bummer...I got my car broken into last night. They didn't steal anything or hurt the car really, but it's still an earry (spelling?) feeling knowing that someone else was rummaging through my car. They went through the glove compartment and everything leaving papers everywhere. At least there was no permanent damage done.
Other happenings...Avonlea has really enjoyed her "school time" with me for the past few months, but she's starting to ask questions about going to school and wanting to play with friends more. Sooo, we're decided to enroll her in a local Christian preschool a few half days a week so she can have more socialization. We'll still be working together at home on the days she doesn't have school, but this way, she'll gain more friends and I'll have some alone time with Lincoln.

I just saw Rick Warren on the Today Show talking about his book. We really try to keep the meaning of Christmas about Jesus. We've never really gotten into Santa.
I'm so sorry about your car! That is scary. I'm glad that you're safe and there was no real damage.
I'm glad you liked the chili.
Thanks for always posting comments on my blog! :) I always love hearing from you. I am so sorry your car got broken into!
I love Rick Warren! I'll have to check out his book.
My car was broken into a few years ago on Easter eve. They didn't take anything and I'm sure the punks that did it were never caught. It still stinks, though.
