Avonlea's 1st Time Out

Avonlea has always been a very loving, nurturing child...however lately, we have had out moments. She is great when it comes to sharing, giving, waiting and being patient but this morning, I think she was overly tired and had had it. We were eating lunch and Avonlea had her cup of milk while I had my iced tea. She wanted a sip of my drink and was saying, "Share Ma ma". So, being the one that has taught her how to share, I let her have a sip of my tea. Well, one sip turned into 3 sips, then turned into 7 sips and she wouldn't give me my glass back (real glass mind you). I was afraid she'd spill it or break it so I said "All done". She screamed at the top of her lungs and taking my pediatrician's advice, I began her first official time out. I pulled out a chair from the table, sat her gently in it and said, "Avonlea is in time out for screaming". I set the timer for one minute (I guess the rule is a minute for every year your child is) and when it beaped, I told her that screaming is not nice and she needed to say she was sorry. She said "sorry" and I gave her a hug. The funny part was that she doesn't really know what it means just yet so she sat there so sweetly and just started talking to herself. It was really cute!! Hopefully we won't have too many more outbursts requiring time outs today, but I'm ready to do whatever it takes. :)

She is so stinking cute. Her hair is adorable. Now, hopefully she will handle time outs that well the next time!
